Late morning today, we decided to brave the elements and try to go see Santa at Bridgeport Village. It was a very slow and somewhat white knuckle 3 mile drive, but we made it. When we got out of the car, Damien was holding Isabelle because everything was packed snow and ice. He slipped and fell with her in his arms. They bonked heads, so Isabelle ended up with a litttle welt on her head. She didn't cry though.
It took us a while to get to Santa's house because there were only small shoveled paths to get where we wanted to go. When we arrived at Santa's house, we had to wait for Santa as he was "feeding the reindeer". Isabelle was fine until Santa arrived. Damien tried to place her on Santa's lap, but she shut her eyes and held onto Damien. She started crying, so I calmed her down. Damien and I ended up in the photo with Isabelle and Santa. It turned out pretty good, but Isabelle doesn't look to happy. After our visit with Santa we all ate at Macaroni Grill for lunch which was very enjoyable.
This evening we had heard on the news that ODOT had shut down I-5 (during rush hour). We knew Earle, Marla, and kids were trying to make their way down to Corvallis to visit Mom and Vern. They called us from the road and asked if they could come to our house as they had been stuck on I-205 for more than 3 hours. It had taken them 4.5 hours to drive from their house to ours. Normally it would be a 30 minute drive. We fed them dinner, the kids played, and opened some Christhanukka presents. All the girls got Eve pajamas and Solomon Power Ranger pajamas. They loaded up in their car and got back on the road around 9pm. At 10pm they called and reported they had only gotten as far as a rest stop south of Wilsonville (normally 30 minutes.) Marla texted me at 1:41am saying they finally made it to Corvallis. UGH, what a trip!
